On Sunday 19 March we welcome a new artist in the salon and you are invited. We will host a private view from 6pm to 9pm and would love to see you there. Victoria Francis (local watercolour artist) and The Gaga Ladies (local acapella vocal duo) join to launch an exhibition of watercolour drawings celebrating the spirit of Stokey and the telling of stories.
Victoria Francis considers herself primarily a story teller. This collection of works in graphite, ink, watercolour and text, chronicles life in Stoke Newington and environs before, during and after the pandemic. Victoria began her art training with Andrew Verster and Diana Hulton in Durban in South Africa and continued at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London. For over 20 years she combined a career in international public health communication with art.
She is now a full time artist/writer based in Stoke Newington and Wiltshire. Take a look at Victoria’s work here: Drawing The Wind.
The Gaga Ladies, Sarah Havard and Judith Shorten, have been singing in and around Stoke Newington for about 10 years. “Nostalgic sparkle follow them with their raw voice and pure talent”. Their repertoire includes original songs as well as covers of folk, rockabilly and country favourites.
