Born in Denmark 1958, Nina Saunders lives and works in London. She studied fine art and critical studies at St Martin’s School of Art from 1986-1991. Saunders had her breakthrough as an artist in the mid-90’s at the Saatchi Gallery in London and has exhibited worldwide since.
Today, her works are represented in a number of museum collections in Europe, as well as receiving much notoriety for her awards in Denmark. Nina works across a wide range of materials and art forms. Her creations are often confounding, appearing on the one hand familiarly domestic and quite humorous on the other.
In Beaucatcher, Nina Saunders is exhibiting Set of Rules, an installation consisting of 15 portraits of dogs using oil on embossed leather with text. Each portrait is based on theory and named after a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained.
We will be hosting a private view evening for Nina on Sunday 30 September from 6pm to 9pm. Please join us for a look into Nina’s surreal world.
