We’re very excited to present our next art exhibition, RED by our own Joanna Hnat. Joanna is not only an assistant here at Beaucatcher, but also our youngest artist to present her work, which goes up on the salon walls on Sunday 10 April 2016.
Joanna has enlisted all of us at the salon to support her vision and her enthusiasm is evident in her statement about her work:
My name is Joanna Hnat and I am an artist based in Stoke Newington, London. My abstract works can be described as vivid and bold pieces that play with emotional atmosphere with colour and composition. I overlay on canvas in various media and I enjoy finding unconventional ways of combining mediums such as acrylic paint and layering the top with dammar varnish, or using inks and household paint. Colour is very enticing to me through my experimentation allowing to create ambiance. I paint in a loose and free manner which helps me to regenerate energy and it becomes a soothing motion, as well as creative étude.
This exhibition is titled Red, because it generates evocative, emotional powers. Red also feels very fitting because it summarises the intensity at which I feel when I’m making the work, with fuelling passion. Excitingly, I will be undertaking an exchange to Toulouse in 2017 for five months, which will hopefully bring fruitful collections of new ways of working and thinking for me to challenge myself as a developing artist.
Now, I warmly invite you to Red, where I hope you will be flooded with my enthusiastic energy and emotion.
