This weekend (29 November) we begin our annual gift collection for Solace Women’s Aid. Please bring in women’s gifts or children’s toys for people in the care of Solace, which help families fleeing domestic violence.
Your gifts must be NEW and UNWRAPPED, and can include a gift note of hope and inspiration. I lose count of how many years we have done this gift drive and the items we receive are always so lovely and appreciated. Suggested are women’s toiletries, toys for young children, teen-appropriate gifts, and non-perishable holiday food items.
What is amazing is how many of you have already begun asking when to bring in the gifts. The time is Now! We will collect through mid-December, so time is of the essence! Christmas for some is a difficult time and for women who must seek refuge from domestic violence it is especially fraught when going out Christmas shopping is simply not a safe option.
Everyone who brings in a gift will be rewarded with a chance to win some great Beaucatcher-curated prizes!
This weekend also sees the Stoke Newington Business Association‘s STOKEY WINTER FEST (Saturday 30 November 2024). There is a Santa’s Grotto in Tower Theatre, a puzzle trail through local shops, choirs and ukuleles at the fire station and of course the magnificent Output Arts Tree.
It’s all in aid of the Hackney Food Bank which is desperate for stocks to help local families this winter. Please bring your non-perishable food items to the Stokey Christmas Tree at the fire station on Saturday or even drop them in to Beaucatcher. In the salon we will be happy to see you stop by with your tins and enjoy a little festivity with us too!
